Il primo obiettivo degli autori, per questo nuovo testo d’Anatomia patologica, è stato il recupero della tradizione italiana che, da sempre, affida alla disciplina il ruolo di dare, al pensiero ed alla prassi medica, le basi concrete ed oggettive delle alterazioni, comunque riscontrate che compongono, nel loro insieme, il quadro di ogni malattia in ogni singolo individuo.

La stesura di ogni capitolo segue uno schema generale necessariamente non troppo rigido, che prevede sintesi essenziali di nozioni di anatomia e istologia e di fisiopatologia, basi indispensabili per connettere le alterazioni anatomo-patologiche con i sintomi principali; trattazione dell’anatomia patologica volutamente contenuta, ma in grado di far cogliere al lettore l’essenziale; e alla fine richiami di correlazioni anatomo-cliniche per i quadri più importanti.

Questo testo di Anatomia Patologica si propone quindi di far acquisire agli studenti la conoscenza sistematica delle malattie più rilevanti, la loro nosografia ed etiopatogenesi, la storia naturale ed i quadri macro e microscopici delle lesioni d’organo o di sistema, nonché le modalità della loro genesi ed evoluzione. Ha quindi lo scopo di far apprendere, anche con lo studio e la dimostrazione pratica di casi bioptici ed autoptici, i quadri anatomo-patologici, ivi comprese le alterazioni sub-cellulari, cellulari, tessutali, d’organo e di sistema, che sostengono e caratterizzano le varie e possibili patologie che abbiano rilievo pratico; la loro evoluzione possibile e gli esiti.
