L’anestesia locoregionale ecoguidata permette di ridurre la latenza d’azione in modo drammatico e con una quantità di anestetico notevolmente ridotta, in quanto l’anestetico locale può essere portato più vicino ai nervi; il nervo quindi “nuota” addirittura in modo visibile nell’anestetico locale.
Tuttavia, non sono solo le anestesie locoregionali ad aver ricevuto una notevole spinta da parte dell’ecografia, ma anche gli accessi venosi centrali che con l’aiuto dell’ecografia vengono posizionati in modo più sicuro e questo non si verifica solo nei bambini.
L’ecografia ha portato anche un grande miglioramento nel posizionamento dei cateteri venosi centrali favorendo il successo delle punzioni e riducendo le complicanze.
